"Baheb El-Hayat" HIV/AIDS Awareness & Advocacy Project
As an Egyptian NGO that uses media as a tool for fostering positive change in the society,
Media-Arts for Development (MADEV) launched the "http://www.bahebelhayat.com" Baheb El-Hayat" HIV/AIDS awareness and advocacy project on August 2007. The project consists of three components:
1) 26 docudrama episodes that introduce to the audience different aspects of HIV/AIDS issue through real cases in Egypt, Lebanon, Libya, Morocco, Tunisia, Algeria, Bahrain, and other Arab states.
2) "Baheb El-Hayat" educational kit, which is developed to help the civic society facilitators to develop their knowledge, sharpen their skills, and foster positive attitudes towards people living with HIV/AIDS. More than 300 NGO representatives were trained to use the media educational kit to raise awareness on HIV/AIDS.
3)"http://www.bahebelhayat.com/"Baheb El-Hayat" website that aims to provide the web browsers in the Arab world with the needed information for HIV/AIDS prevention, testing, treatment, research; and to open a window for those who are suffering from -or exposed to- HIV/AIDS, in order to find a way to open-up and share their situations, and to get the proper counseling and advice.
"Baheb El-Hayat" episodes were broadcasted through "Future Satellite Channel",
a Lebanese open-to-air TV channel that covers the entire Arab World.
