Who we are:
Media-Arts for Development (MADEV)
Media-Arts for Development (MADEV) –an Egyptian NGO registered under the Ministry of Social Solidarity in August 2005, reg. Number: 6184/2005- uses media productions and media training as a means for creating positive social change for inadequately educated children and young people with no access to proper channels of knowledge and information through promoting rights-based development messages through media productions and capacity building through media training.
Our focus to advocate visual media as a tool for development is built on the deep belief that achieving the Millennium Development Goals (MDG) and access-to-information is the key tool to empowering civic society especially visual societies where the illiteracy rate is high. Access to information and the free flow of information (communication) are critical for providing developmental assistance as well as managing conflicts in the region against the uprising violence and continued terrorism in the MENA region. Working with different partners to achieve the democratic governance goals require information to be widely available especially for those who are poor, vulnerable and frequently excluded from the mainstream governances processes because of their lack of access to information and communication support. Information on basic rights such as health, education, safe living spaces and equality should be available to all and be integrated as part of the social fabric of the MENA region.
Vision:
It is MADEV’s vision to empower people to work for positive societal change in Egypt and the Arab world through media arts.
Mission:
MADEV’s mission is to use media arts as an advocacy tool to educate, inspire, motivate and encourage positive societal development in Egypt.
MADEV believes that media arts empower people towards changes in attitudes and behaviors that ultimately improve their lives.
Target audience: MADEV targets the vulnerable/marginalized groups in the societies of the Arab world. A special focus is on:
